In honor of Earth Day, I compiled the following environmentally friendly tips and ideas for you to begin living an environmentally conscious way of life beginning today:
: A non-toxic environment in your home-
your pets and family will gather in a non-toxic environment. Gather all the products in your house or garage, the unsafe chemicals and drop off your hazardous waste facility or at a hazardous waste (HHW) event if it is in your community. Examples of what must be disposed of at a hazardous waste facility:
paints, solvents, batteries, automotive products, such as motor oil, antifreeze, transmission oil, household cleaners such as carpet cleaners, oven cleaners and drain cleaners, petroleum , pesticides such as weed killers, flea and insect killer.
If possible, bike, walk or use public transport
With the increasing number of commuters in the U.S., cars are largely responsible for creating one of the largest carbon footprints of all transportation. Use public transportation, carpool, or bike: your wallet and waistline will thank you!
energy by upgrading to energy-efficient lighting, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs)
First, these bulbs may cost more than incandescent bulbs, but also up to 10-times longer. CFLs can replace incandescent light bulbs in just about every light fixture in your home.
* Make sure that the recycling of CFLs in the proper waste facility when they finally run out to the mercury content of landfills.

Simple choices we make each day can be a massive impact on the wellbeing of our planet, by the need to waste and filling our landfills:
1. During lunch or purchase take, not to ask for unnecessary plastic utensils, straws, etc.
2. Buy products in large quantities and /or the least packaging. Avoid convenience foods saves money and reduces the amount of waste from your household trash.
3. Replace paper napkins and towels with cloth napkins. Store used napkins or towels in a small container in the kitchen and just wash and reuse as needed.
4. Print documents only when necessary to put pressure on once used paper and /or bleach-free, recycled paper with the highest post-consumer waste content available.
5. Check with your service and utility companies to ask to be paperless billing. Most bills can be online, and save some money in stamps!
6. Reuse paper otherwise throw them into the new pads.
7. Invest in a quality Lunchbox with reusable containers for lunch.
8. Invest in reusable shopping bags.
Conserve water
Did you know that only 3% of the earth's water is freshwater? In addition, water-energy consumes a large amount of energy. Here are some tips to protect this valuable and critical resources and save money:
1. Select your lawn to water in the evening hours when the air cooler (not in the middle of day) to evaporation.
2. Let grass grow longer and native plants or drought-tolerant garden plants.
3. Prevent Water taps run. Do not let the water run when brushing teeth, shaving, etc. Instead of the water run while cleaning your washing vegetables in a pot with water.
4. Limit your shower time. One or two minutes you can reduce 700 gallons! Even better would be a low-flow shower head to reduce the amount of water used.
Teach your children
an example for your child through the adaptation of environmentally friendly, sustainable habits into your everyday life. Teach them the importance of preserving our planet, so that they will continue this movement in the future. Plant a tree with a child and teach them the nature through hikes and walks in the woods. This tip is the most important thing we can do about the future of our planet and humanity.
