Computer Recycling - The Hazards of Landfills

What happens to your old computers, monitors, keyboards, mouse, etc. If you upgrade to the latest model, you only have to make to the local landfill?. This article discusses the risks associated with computer recycling and what should be done with your old computer when you upgraded.

What's the big deal anyway, the old computer can be easily with all the other garbage. The biggest concern is with CRT monitors and it contains about 4 pounds of lead per unit. The lead can not be physically as other waste, and over time the entire landfill is contaminated by the toxin is lead.

I think we all know the dangers associated with lead poisoning and health problems that may occur include:

learning
behavioral problems
High doses of lead has been
Seizures
commas
Death

If this is not enough is also toxins seep into the local streams from the computer dumped at local landfill, no wonder the planet is in dire need of repair.

The proper way to dispose of these environmental hazards is to check with your municipality to see if there is a program set up to older TVs and CRTs for recycling. Where I live there is a central point where we could go to drop all of our old computers and electronic devices that we no longer wanted or needed.

No matter what the point is that you recycle, there is a way to do it, everything you need to do is make a phone call or two, and you have your share of the recycling laws, and your bit to help clean up the planet. Rape, so that on this item when you next time that an upgrade to a brand new computer to do the right thing and recycle that old computer and all unwanted gadgets.

The Benefits of Using Your Own Shopping Bags

reuse is much more efficient and better for the world as a whole recycling. Recycling is great, Do not get me wrong, but it needs a lot of energy (human and resource) to be recycled. Reusing something makes more sense to me.

cloth bags are a good example. I have 5 cloth bags that I have in my car for all my shopping trips. I think bags are not only for food but also for trips to the hardware store, book store, and the yarn store. I can reuse it over and over and over, whereas a plastic bag can only be used a few times. My cloth bags were all freebies. They are all made of heavy canvas cloth and flat bottoms. Yourself, and have long-term, durable treat. Some even have a pocket on the outside. I also have same three nylon bags, which I bought at our local market. These are used for other purposes, such as my knitting projects. They are particularly expert in their own pocket and in my glove compartment.

Most plastic bags are used in a manner that it tears at the seams after one or two uses. And they do not hold much weight. And they do not break into the landfill. Not to mention all the damage that plastic bags can do to the environment, animal and plant world. Garbage on the side of the street is not nice, but plastic bags hanging from trees and shrubs are particularly tasteless and ubiquitous, at least in these parts. The one thing that you can reuse plastic shopping bags is food for the small bins. At least this saves buying a separate plastic garbage can liner.

the habit with the cloth bags a little work, because with every new habit. Here is a Tip : Always your cloth bags back into the vehicle out of the box. Keep them in the front seat if you can, or if you have children and /or pets and have them in the background or the trunk, a note on the dashboard to remind you. Many people do not remember their pockets to wait until they are in line to checkout, which is too late.

Now, I have the habit, I feel naked walk into a store without my own pockets.

Bottled Water Blues

grabbing fast water in bottles when you click on the jump seems pretty harmless, and it would be if you are the only person, mineral water to drink, and you have not very often. Unfortunately, every person in the United States reached Mineralwasser 167 times on average in 2006. Adds that up to 50 billion bottles. Since only 23% of disposable plastic bottles are recycled, 38 billion disposable plastic bottles end in landfills each year - 100 million bottles a day. The end-to-end, there would be enough bottles to reach from New Jersey to China and back every day!

This excessive amount of plastic waste is bad for the environment because plastic biodegrades very slowly. It takes more than 700 years for a plastic bottle to decompose in a landfill. Plastic debris scattered around our land and waterways is a continuing threat to wildlife and ecosystems. In fact, plastic pollution has become a worldwide problem. There is a growing "garbage patch" of plastics is estimated that more than twice the size of Texas floating in the North Pacific. This patch consists of a stew made of plastic, which have been through the debris flows from the coasts around the Pacific in a pool in which the Gyre currents together. At sea or on land, creatures mistake plastic shiny and colorful items for food, and if they eat these deposits, it is often fatal.

This amazing amount of disposable plastic bottles are not just filling our landfills and confusing our land and water, it is also wasting our finite natural resources and increasing our carbon footprint. Picture disposable plastic bottle of water 1 /4 full of oil. That is how much oil to make and distribute a single plastic bottle of water. The amount of oil we use for the manufacture of water bottles, 17 million barrels, could fuel cars 1000000 for an entire year. In addition, we are shipping 1 billion bottles of water a week around the U.S. in ships, trains and trucks. A bottle of water also requires at least three times the volume of water for the production and filling. This is because it is a large amount of water for the processing of petroleum in plastic. Finally, producing and transporting a bottle of water produces about 120 grams of greenhouse gases - enough for 12 balloons.

Other environmental damage caused by the collection of water needed for the 50 billion bottles. Communities in which companies withdraw millions of bottles gallons of water per day are harassed by tanker trucks rumbling through the small towns 24-7 to the bottling plants with water. Local ecosystems adversely affected if large amounts of water are removed entirely from a turning point. These large water withdrawals from aquifers (underground water supply) or surface features can stream flow, lake levels lower, the decline in local water and productivity, and eco-systems interfere, so that aquatic plant growth and increased fish stock declines. In the coastal areas, saltwater intrusion into aquifers and wells can be accelerated by these large freshwater withdrawals. These communities are in the fight against multi-national companies in the local regulatory and other legal arenas, to the high water consumption.

The economic argument against mineral water is just as convincing. Americans spent $ 15 billion on bottled water in 2006, with 2-4-times the price of gasoline for a product they can be virtually straight from the taps. In contrast to the many marketing messages, tap water is probably more healthy than mineral water, tap water is heavily regulated and monitored the quality of mineral water. About 40% of bottled water is simply filtered tap water, why pay 1000-times more for it? Filling a reusable water bottle with an individual saves at least $ 34 per year. A family of four will save at least $ 136 per year with reusable bottles.

Can we afford to continue wasting our limited natural and economic resources on bottled water? It is a simple solution - Fill your reusable bottle with tap water!

Texas Junk Yards - The New Environmentalists

salvage yards in Texas have recently been in a quiet makeover. Sliding silently in the past, the junk yards of yesterday, where vehicles of all kinds went slowly rust into oblivion. Today, salvage yards in Texas, at least, experience a kind of enlightenment. And they are proud to be at the interface of environment and recycling. In fact that is exactly what they can demand. Not more than the meaning junk yards in the great state of Texas are now "automotive recycling" and participate in saving some of our countries most valuable resources, particularly iron and aluminum.

In times of most people never thought twice about what happened to all motor oils and corrosive fluids, which eventually found their way into the groundwater. Once the vehicles, they were abandoned and left to Rust these liquids begin infiltrating and polluting the fragile ecosystems. Today all that has changed. Automotive recycling operations at some of the strictest disposal in the country. As members of the ARA or Automotive Recyclers Association, the new generation of salvage yards an industrial packaging for the safe removal and disposal of hazardous wastes left of inoperable motor vehicles. They are also responsible for the recycling and reuse of parts that are still miles and years of service left.

salvage yards in Texas and across the country have more than 50 million U.S. dollars on environmental impact. And since 1997, motor vehicle recycling enough steel salvage of vehicles, construction of 13 million new vehicles. The automotive recycler of Texas, that they pass that savings in the general population, as well. Today more than 95% of the vehicles are from the use of recycling. With the removal and proper handling of salvageable parts from these inoperable vehicles, vehicle recycling, the consumer up to 50% of the cost of buying the same part again.

The weather in Texas also about recycling throughout the state. Since a large part of Texas is an arid desert climate, recycling are able to store more vehicles outside for a long time, so hold down overhead costs. They in turn are able to offer these savings to customers.

automobile recycling are also interconnected via satellite and the Internet, often to their online directory, so hard to find for consumers throughout the country. Through the use of direct access inventory systems, automobile recycling are able to quickly and efficiently search for customers on the spot or they can, and ship parts to customers a continent away. This technology enables them to quickly, efficiently and economically for our customers, wherever they may be.

Pull unused electronics, if required: We are a gadget-driven community. The average person who owns a laptop computer, for charging a cell phone, and other must-haves for us through the day. If not used, some of these products can be up and at the same time electricity is in the wall (check for small lamps lit on your computer and other items). Unplug when not in use, and a few U.S. dollars per year on your bills.

Buy local: You can not see, but when buying groceries can contribute to the pollution of the planet. The reason is that grocers have food delivered from around the country, and that means gas, oil and energy output levels. Next time you are hungry, from the local farmers markets to buy instead. The more people shop where the food is actually grown, the greater is the chance to travel.

Using the 3 R's to Help the Environment

Because of global warming, pollution, diminishing forests, and a limited supply of natural resources, people are becoming more aware of the importance of protecting the environment. Waste in the environment affects the air, water, land, animals, plants, and humans. When we use the environment as a waste dump, we take away land from wildlife, pollute the environment, and deplete natural resources. One way people are doing their part to protect the environment is adopting the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Waste Program. The 3R program reduces the amount of garbage going into landfills thereby protecting and conserving our environment.

Reduce: People reduce by purchasing items that are durable and last a long time. By purchasing long lasting products with very little packaging, you will decrease the amount of waste entering a landfill. Other ways of reducing waste include:

- Buy products that do not require a lot of energy and resources to manufacture. Look for products that contain environmentally friendly packaging.
- Reduce car use by riding your bicycle, carpooling with friends, walking, or taking the bus.
- Composting is a great way to dispose of kitchen waste. It is healthy for the soil and less waste will go into the landfill.
- Turn off lights that you are not using and use energy efficient light bulbs.
- Turn off the taps when brushing your teeth.

Reducing will help with conservation efforts and decrease landfill waste and energy use. Reducing results in less pollution and a cleaner environment. It also helps conserve natural resources.

Reuse: You can reduce waste by reusing products. Reusing methods include repairing damaged items, donating items to a worthy cause, or finding another way to use them. Some reusing tips include:

- Use cloth grocery bags instead of plastic bags. They can be used repeatedly.
- Use reusable lunch bags.
- Metal cans and plastic containers can be used for storing items.
- Donate old clothes, furniture, and toys to a charity.
- Use silverware and dishes instead of plastic utensils and plates.
- Store food in reusable plastic containers.

Another way to reuse is to hire a junk removal service. Except for hazardous materials, junk removal companies will come and remove just about any type of waste. This includes furniture, appliances, electronics, and construction refuse. Many junk removal businesses donate items to charities, repair items, and recycle.

Recycling: This process involves making new products out of old products. This means potential landfill waste becomes a new product. You can protect the environment by buying products that contain recycled materials. Many of the things we use every day are recycled. Recycled products include: paper towels, toilet paper, paper bags, beverage bottles and cans, milk cartons, and much more. Most products have the recycle label on the package.

Many towns and cities have recycling programs. Some places even have mandatory recycling programs. Junk removal companies are actively involved in reusing and recycling. These companies are very aware of the public's concern for the environment so they make reusing and recycling a big part of their business. Make sure you ask a junk removing company how much they recycle. You will feel good knowing that not all of the junk you are getting rid of will end up in a land fill.

Reducing, reusing, and recycling helps lessen our impact on the environment and benefits the community. With the help of environmentally conscious companies such as junk removal companies, we are decreasing the amount of waste going into landfills. By participating in the 3R program, you will feel good knowing that you are doing your part to leave a healthier planet for your children.

Driving and Stopping Smarter

Who loves driving in stop-and-go traffic, only to break through and be stuck at the next 7 straight red lights? Even if there is abnormally fantastic music playing, that scenario is quite far from the quintessential "relaxing evening". What might surprise you is that the environment agrees; from a "green" standpoint, maximizing efficiency produces the least impacts, in this case, a smooth drive home.

The difference in a vehicle's city and highway mileage is directly related to the increased acceleration and braking experienced in typical city driving. On highways, the engine is able to settle into an ideal pattern, generating the proper energy for the speed you desire, more so if the speed is kept in all car's optimal range (55-60). When city driving, much of the distance covered is while the car is speeding up from a standstill, a process which consumes far more fuel (and produces more emissions) than driving steadily at one speed.

As mentioned in a previous article, my car has a real time fuel consumption computer which I've referenced for other statistics. In strictly stop-and-go urban driving, the car usually manages about 22-25 MPG. While accelerating, however, that number falls to 10 or below! Consider this: the first light turns green, and the traffic flow begins moving towards the next set of lights, which promptly turns red. At this point, the momentum the car generated is wasted in braking for the next intersection. Therefore, for this area of travel, the vehicle's mileage was likely less than half even the EPA rating!

There is another aspect to consider: idling. As much (or as little) as a non-hybrid vehicle sips fuel when driving, they all get 0 MPG when idling. According to the Canadian Office of Energy Efficiency, the average engine consumes between to of a gallon for every hour it is left idling. Considering the average Canadian (American drivers are likely quite similar) leaves their engine idling for 5-10 minutes daily, assuming $2.00/gallon, the car generates about 2.5 pounds of carbon dioxide and directly costs the owner 5-10 ...daily. A good methodology to follow is to turn off the engine if it will be idling for more than about 30 seconds. Modern engines use less gas to restart than they do to operate for 15 seconds. Contrary to popular belief, it is no longer necessary to leave the vehicle idling when cold; it warms up more effectively when being lightly driven.

So it's been established that idling wastes fuel (and generates more CO2), while consistent red lights decrease gas mileage, both contributing to increased costs of vehicle ownership (and increased emissions), but how do they relate?

While the American Federal government is attempting to take a leadership role in reducing emissions and maximizing efficiency, without any detraction to those efforts, it is likely they will be slow to implement. However, development of climate change task forces by local community and county governments have great potential for effecting immediate and substantial change. While traffic elimination is a pipe dream (but something that both "green" and "non-green" citizens would welcome!), one issue that is rarely discussed is traffic light timing.

In most urban and sub-urban regions, nearly all traffic lights on major roads are networked on a central timing system, affected normally by time of day, individual car sensors, and emergency vehicles. The goal of such a system is to promote a smooth flow of traffic in all directions, while maximizing safety in your commute. Additionally, most have a "magic speed" configured, in which, assuming no traffic, one could hit every green light the entire road through. Unfortunately, in many regions, there are certain lights that always seem to be red. It isn't a coincidence, though it might be an accident.

How can you help? Encourage your local climate change task forces (if you have) as well as your city and county commissioners to push for traffic light timing programs. This is probably the first place you've seen it written, but nevertheless: Go green with traffic light timing! By decreasing stop-and-go driving patterns as well as reducing idle time of commuters, localities can make a substantial affect on their own emissions, thereby taking a worthwhile step in their green efforts.

The Benefits of Using Biodegradable Bubble Wrap

We live in a time in which we really need to be concentrating on taking care of our environment. This is because the world is becoming more populated and the junk that we create and throw away is piling up. When it piles up, it compromises the soils that grow our food and animal habitats. In other words, the junk that we throw out into our world is changing the face of the earth in a bad way. Of the items that cause great harm to the environment are packing materials.

One of the main packing materials that are used in shipping boxes all around the world is Styrofoam. That Styrofoam is not good for the environment. It doesn't degrade. It is true that there have been biodegradable packing peanuts created, but one very affordable packing material is biodegradable bubble wrap.

About biodegradable bubble wrap

Biodegradable bubble wrap is different from regular bubble wrap in that there are degradable plastic additives that are blended into the plastic. This means that there are no toxic residues that are left behind after the bubble wrap oxidizes and after it degrades. In other words, it is completely safe for the environment.

And just like any kind of bubble wrap, you can buy rolls of it in various quantities and lengths. You can also buy your desired thickness. Since some items you ship are more sensitive than others, you definitely want to make sure that your items are protected with the right thickness.

So just because your bubble wrap is biodegradable doesn't mean that you have to give up any of the protection you need for your items. Some individuals feel that anything that is environmentally friendly is not constructed as well as it should be. They think that they are spending money on something that has been severely compromised, but that is not the case. Don't let this misconception keep you from purchasing biodegradable bubble wrap or any other biodegradable packing materials.

Where to acquire biodegradable bubble wrap

There are online stores that offer you biodegradable bubble wrap and other biodegradable packing supplies. You should also be able to go to your shipping supplies store and ask them for biodegradable packing supplies. More and more stores are offering these supplies to individuals who are environmentally conscious. Hopefully, biodegradable bubble wrap and other packing materials will be the standard in the shipping industry.

The benefits

You've been able to see some of the benefits so far, but here are some more for you:

You do not have to pay a large price for biodegradable bubble wrap.
The items that you are shipping will be protected just as well as they would be if you were using the kind of bubble wrap that is not good for the environment.
You can buy different quantities, based on your needs.
Biodegradable bubble wrap is easy to find and it is getting easier. All you have to do is look on the Internet or ask your local shipping supplies store. You may also be able to ask your local shipping supplies store if they can order it for you if they don't have it. Actually, they may begin to carry it if they get enough requests.
The ultimate goal is achieved with biodegradable bubble wrap, which is protecting the environment. You are doing a great thing for yourself, your children, and their children.

In the end, you'll feel very good about what you are doing for the environment. You'll also find that the items you are shipping will be quite protected and that the myths about biodegradable shipping products can't be believed.

Mexico - Pollution Report

Air pollution is one of the many problems that the authorities of the Mexican capital face. In 1986, a system was put in place for atmospheric monitoring (Simat), which each day gives the weather Indice Metropolitan Air Quality. In 2008, 1.5% of greenhouse gases in the world were produced by the agglomeration of Mexico. 4000 deaths per year are attributed to pollution caused by this area of the world. However, these figures are only estimates.

This pollution is the result of intense traffic - there are 4 million cars, 27 000 microbuses, 92 000 taxis which consumes about 14 million gallons of gasoline every day - and an industry which has seen extremely rapid growth (60 000 industrial companies working in the town of Mexico). Urban sprawl and the construction of new highways over the past thirty years reinforce the use of cars in Mexico. According to a report of the Committee on Human Rights of the Federal District (CDHDF) published in December 2008, 80% of GHG emissions are produced by transport .

The bowl situation worsens the effect of pollution by promoting the thermal inversion. The long dry season favors the stagnation of air over the city for half of the year. Because of the altitude, some districts cover more than 2 800 m, it freezes ten nights between December and February. The cooling of the soil causes a thermal inversion: a layer of cold stagnant air of a few hundred meters thick filled with an accumulation of gases, fumes, dust is dispersed as part of warming during the middle of the day (not all day). This combination of elements conducive to the concentration of air pollution is reduced during the rainy season.

What is Carbon Trading

Just how does carbon trading actually work? The authorities let companies buy a limited measure of carbon credits in the shape of an allocation. Companies may then apply this allocation for carbon discharges that wont see them receive a punishment. Nevertheless, if a company uses up all of their credits and they still need to expel carbon discharges, the company is accountable for detecting another company that's consenting to sell them some more carbon credits. The polluting company purchases the credits from a dis-contaminating company, whilst it changes overs to lower polluting methods.

In the result that a company is incapable of purchasing extra credits from some other company, the company won't be allowed to expel any further pollutants. Instead of being charged for closing down companies and making people unemployed, when companies make the changeover to non polluting methods, a lot of authorities plan to at first determine a tier at which they'll sell the required credits

The succeeding question, naturally, is: Just how are carbon emissions assigned? At the start, the authorities ascertain how much the manufacture will be permitted to pollute and places a carbon cap on its discharges. Then as time passes, the authorities reduce the ceiling. The assumption is that sooner or later the authorities will lower the ceiling to a lower limit that will permit companies to carry on its processes whilst assisting its changeover to a fresher more beneficial system. Again the particulars of how the credits will be allocated by separate companies will be arranged are deficient on details.

About advocators feel carbon trading to be a more beneficial process than other enterprises in that carbon trading doesn't need so much authorities participation as a few of the other suggested thoughts. Whilst at first companies wouldn't detect much modification in their power to expel carbon emissions, they'll start to make alterations as the ceiling reduces. Simultaneously, this progressive approach will give companies the time required to assess their ongoing practices in reference to taking on green techniques. Advocators conceive that companies will take steps to bring down their pollution to spare the company some money on subsequent carbon trading.

Opposes state that if you prefer the IRS, you'll enjoy carbon trading. Because there are no regulations up to now, pessimist's debate that carbon trading will be outlined by anonymous administrative officials who will carry no obligation for the prices or troubles they make for companies that must abide by discretional carbon trading orders.

All told it wants to be remarked that advocators reluctantly acknowledge that there's no efficient fabric for dispensing carbon trading. Present-day attempts have great defects. To boot, exploratory carbon trading, let alone carbon tax, propositions appear full of privileges for governmental acquaintances.

In the meantime, some company's say they want to expel pollutants to run active companies and that they can't straightaway substitute their factories and retrain employees. They in addition to call into question why their merchandise will cost considerably more than imports dispensed from nations with few measures and limitations, and thus more inexpensive prices. As a matter of fact, many companies debate that they are being punished when it comes to contending with nations that are more nonchalant about abiding by political carbon reducing rules.

Freight Industry Must Become More Environmentally Friendly

Over the last ten years or so worries about the environment and fear of global warming has entered the mainstream. Green issues are at the top of the political agenda and no longer solely the concern of 'tree huggers'. This is of course largely because the fact of climate change is no longer up for debate. Most scientists now agree that pollution is causing temperatures to behave more erratically that the future of the planet is under threat.

We have seen politicians jumping on the 'green bandwagon' and environmental issues making their way into the statute books. The freight forwarding industry is therefore also rightly coming under pressure to reduce the level of pollution it emits and to adopt more environmentally friendly practices.

Indeed, a recent report published by the Scottish Parliament's Local Government and Transport Committee highlighted the need to make transportation greener. It showed that the way cargo is transported in and around Scotland is really not very green at all. This is partly because of the dominance of the roads as a way of moving freight. In fact road transportation accounts for around 70% of all forwarding. The report said that this must change in favour of more environmentally friendly transportation methods.

Rail forwarding is one way that the report suggested taking the emphasis off the roads. Another suggestion of how to reduce the impact of road transportation was to try and alleviate congestion by adding non-car lanes on major roads. Another idea voiced in the report was to permit freight companies that use trucks on forest roads to use red diesel. This fuel is used in refrigeration, domestic heating systems and agricultural equipment and is seen to be greener than other fuels.

Ultimately, the freight industry must look at what it is doing in all areas of its practises from types of transportation used, to fuel to route planning to make sure that it adopts a greener approach.

Tired of All of Those Leftover Plastic Bags From the Grocery Store? - Try Using an Eco-Friendly Bag!

While waiting in front of the cashier at my local grocery store and waiting for all of my items to be bagged, I stopped and counted how many plastic bags the teenage cashier was using. I thought to myself, "Wow, that's a lot of plastic that I'm just going to throw away when I get home".

I noticed that I never really re-use any plastic bags because it is just too much of a hassle to keep up with how many there are. I saw a woman leaving the grocery store with a couple of medium sized re-usable shopping bags and I thought that it was a great idea. An Eco friendly bag reduces the amount of plastic that I am going to waist. Eco friendly shopping bags are also really helpful because I don't have to carry so many annoying bags, I can just fit all of my groceries into two or three bags. There are also a lot of really cute custom tote bags that you can have embroidered or even design them yourselves. It's a great project to do with the kids and it will make your trip to the grocery store a whole lot more fun.

Eco friendly shopping bags are great to have because I just keep a couple in my car and I just take them inside with me. When I come out of the grocery store, my bags are full. I live in the third story of my three story apartment building. This concludes that I have three flights of stairs to walk up. With twenty grocery bags I just can't do it. I used to have to call down the family for everyone to come and get some grocery bags so that we would each only have one trip to make. Now I only have four eco friendly bags and I can carry them up myself. The best part is that I bought my own custom tote bag with my initials embroidered in to it. It really is a nice accessory to have while in the grocery store.

Many grocery stores will even give you a little discount when you bring your own bag from home. It may only be five or ten cents, but those pennies add up to dollars eventually. In today's economic climate, we need to save money anywhere we can.

I can even use these great bags when I'm not at the grocery store. My family and I spend a lot of time at the beach, and let's face it, who wants to buy a whole bunch of new beach gear? Instead of buying expensive beach bags, we all own our own custom tote bags that are all eco friendly shopping bags as well.

The eco friendly bags have been a big help to our family in so many ways. The eco friendly bags are also made out of really great materials that are not harsh or offensive to the Earth. The bags are usually made of hemp, cotton, or another biodegradable substance that is not wasted like plastic. These bags will definitely hold up to your groceries for a pretty long time. I suggest using eco friendly shopping bags for all of your carrying needs, especially if you have a lot of stairs to climb when you get home, or if you just want to go "green" and help the Earth!

Greener Living With Renewable Energy Sources

With the decrease in the availability of non renewable resources over time, people have become very cautious and have started taking steps to make use of energy more efficiently. By researching the naturally available energy resources, it has been shown that they help a lot in saving money being that is now spent on non-renewable resources of energy.

Almost all the natural resources that we see and feel can be used as a resource for generating energy. Some of the most commonly used natural resources include

  • Solar power
  • Wind energy
  • Water
  • Bio energy
  • Bio wastes

These resources efficiently help in cutting down the costs incurred in using the exhaustible sources of energy.

The use of natural sources of energy has been well commercialized. There are a lot of companies which build and provide natural sources of energy to produce electricity and use it for domestic purposes. These companies, although interested in making a profit, do a good job of saving nature in the process. For example, in the case of gasoline and diesel the pollution caused is very large -- it can be very easily reduced with the use of bio fuels. Bio fuels include mainly ethanol and bio diesel.

All these companies say that the usage of renewable sources of energy is more simple and more effective. Most commonly used concepts include solar panels, windmills, etc., which are easy to construct and efficient in operation. You can save a lot of money if you make use of these renewable sources and you can also feel proud to say that you contribute to saving the environment.

Green campuses and greener technologies have been becoming much more popular, even in the general public. A green campus typically means a pollution-free zone where there is a very minimal usage of non-renewable sources of energy. With such a campus, you can breathe very fresh air and maintain your health. Green technology refers to technologies incorporated into machines that help it to emit less heat and smoke into the environment. So the term "green" is typically a referral to tree-surrounded environment where there is no much of pollution and heat.

With the advent of media technologies and other powerful communication sources, there has been a lot of information and warnings regarding the usage of non-renewable sources of energy. There has been a global call to shift to renewable sources of energy. We can have a good plan to work so that 10 to 15 years from now, the whole world will be greener with effective usage of renewable sources of energy wherever possible.

Nothing can be developed all of a sudden. With the use of effective network and communication, it is our duty to inform others of the advantages and superiority of renewable sources of energy over the exhaustible sources of energy. It is not enough if you alone stay healthy in this world. You can never be healthy completely if the world is polluted. Lets make wise use of all the renewable sources of energy and make the whole world green!

Global Warming - Beating the Heat

So how's this cool weather been treating you? It's actually a treat for the earth because it prolongs this life as we know it. Society isn't going to completely collapse because of global warming as soon as it would if the heat was even more intense than it already is. So the coolness is refreshing and life-bringing, at least for now. You may think society is already collapsing when you consider what's happening with money, but it will be worse yet in future recessions.

In the future there are going to be shortages of cheap energy even when there is an economic slowdown, along with shortages of cheap food. Reduced demand won't lower prices as much in the future. A lot of this will be due to the fact that freshwater supplies all around the world are dwindling. Wells are being dug deeper and deeper because groundwater tables are being depleted faster than they can be recharged naturally. That's going to make it harder to grow enough food.

And growing food is also going to get harder because of climate change. You may have heard that more carbon dioxide in the air will feed plants and they'll grow better since they have richer food. That would be nice, if it were all that simple. But that's a little like trying to exercise with an oxygen mask on. It really doesn't address anything about what you're trying to accomplish and is likely to be a hindrance to your breathing as you work out.

One of the biggest problems with growing food in a warming world is pests. There are already too much pesticides used on most crops, and many pests thrive in warmer temperatures. A lot of crops only grow well in certain limited temperature ranges, too. And there aren't currently varieties of them that thrive in the heat and the dry conditions of a warmer climate. There's a lot of research going on with genetically-modified plants to try to make that less of a problem.

Water is indeed going to be a serious problem, and it's going to lead to the food and energy shortages. As the earth heats up, there will be heavier rainfalls but they will happen less frequently. It's already started to happen. So there won't be a steady flow of water. It'll come in short bursts, and in more and more places there will be just floods and droughts between them. Both floods and droughts are fatal to crops, and neither give much water for drinking or washing either.

Traditional energy production also uses a lot of water. Coal, natural gas, and nuclear-fired power plants all need a lot of water to cool them down. And when there isn't enough clean water, it takes a huge amount of energy to make that water. It's going to become a vicious cycle. If you want the energy you need the water, and if you lack the water you need the energy.

New, alternative sources of energy don't need all that water. Solar and wind aren't thirsty sources of power. But there's just not enough of them in the world yet to make much of a difference. And utilities shy away from them as much as possible because they aren't steady sources. The sun doesn't always shine on solar panels and the wind doesn't always blow on windmills, while there is always hunger for the electricity they provide.

There are also going to be floods on the coasts of the world because of rising sea levels. Just by the end of the 21st Century sea levels are predicted to rise a few feet or more. That's going to flood a lot of property since in places like the US, half the people in the country live near the coast. It's going to be devastating because there's so much development right on the oceans.

This was foretold in the Baptism of John the Baptist. He showed what the End-Times were going to be like when he immersed people in water for repentance of their sins. You too are expected to repent of your own sins as you see these are the Last Days. And you too will go through the flooding coming these days, symbolically or perhaps even literally. As Jesus said, these are like the days of Noah, and you need to build your house to withstand the storms and floods.

Jesus said the End of the Age would come as a summer. And these days the world is indeed warming, making all the other seasons more like summer. But the good news is He said He would return then. He told His disciples to watch for His Return, and those Words are relevant more than ever today. You need to watch for His Coming in your own heart and in your own mind.

He said He'd come as a Thief to catch those not watching for Him. And yet millions of people look for Him somewhere out there in the world. They're not really watching for Him because they're not aware of the inner Experience. Jesus said the Kingdom of God is within you, and He said when He comes back He'll make His Home inside you, if you keep the watch and aren't surprised by His Coming as a Thief. This is what to expect today, and this is what to watch for.
