Now one day buying gas for your car can be very expensive. If you are looking for ways to save some money, why do not you consider getting rid of one of your cars for alternative transport! Not only cars to use increasingly expensive gasoline, you will notice that between the regular maintenance, insurance and unexpected expenses that the average American spends about one fifth of their income on their cars alone. The truth is that although we live in a car-centric culture, can we still live quite well without a car!
The first alternative that comes to mind when you try to go car-free is the bicycle. Depending on where you live and how your bicycle-friendly city, it's a bike you get when you need to go very quickly, especially if you are not far away. Statistics show that within one or two miles radius, it is easier to use a bicycle just because it requires less time to running and parks. Another option is just to the public transportation such as bus or subway or train. Depending on which city you are in, there are different modes of public transport. Taxis would also work for you if you need to to a remote area of public transportation or after hours. This mode is not a very green option, but it costs less than you possess a car with all insurance and maintenance costs. Think of the taxi or bus driver as your personal chauffeur.
Remember that if you try to decide if you do not want a car, you have options should you choose to live car-free; look around and see what is available. Be creative and go green.
